The New York Times publishes fake news about Canal Red and Pablo Iglesias demands a rectification from its editor-in-chief

Last September 21, the prestigious US newspaper The New York Times published a supposedly informative piece about the different ways that the Russian state media Russia Today uses to spread its message despite the ban on it in the United States and the European Union. In the article, signed by Neil MacFarquhar, the NYT slandered Canal Red and used spurious arguments and manipulations to slip in a misrepresentation: that the Spain-based media would be a kind of covert operation of Putin's government to spread its agenda in Spain.

In the aftermath of the publication of this hoax, the editor-in-chief of Canal Red, Pablo Iglesias, decided to send a letter to the editor-in-chief of the New York Times, Joseph Kahn, demanding a rectification. Not getting a reply, Pablo Iglesias has publicized the letter a week later so that everyone can know what actually happened.
